Wool cat beds and caves
Cats sleep sixteen hours a day and choose where by temperature and by cover. A felted wool cave gives them both: dense wool holds their own body heat, and the enclosed shape satisfies the instinct to sleep somewhere with walls and one exit.
Why a cave, not an open basket
An open bed leaves a cat exposed and they know it — which is why they end up in cardboard boxes and laundry baskets instead. A wool cave is the boxes' better-looking cousin: enclosed on all sides, one soft opening, dark inside.
One piece of wool, no seams
Each cave is wet-felted from a single fleece rather than sewn from panels, so there are no seams to split and no thread for claws to pull. The walls stand up on their own and soften into the cat's shape over the first few weeks.
Nothing your cat shouldn't lick
Cats groom constantly, so anything on the bed ends up inside them. Our wool is scoured without solvents and dyed to OEKO-TEX 100 limits — no PFAS, no formaldehyde, no azo dyes, no plastic fibres to shed.
Getting a cat to use it
Put it where they already sleep, not where you want them to. Rub a little of their existing bedding inside. Most cats take a day; the suspicious ones take a week and then never leave.

What people ask before they buy
- Why do cats prefer enclosed cat caves?
- Cats sleep best when they feel unobserved and can watch a single entrance. An enclosed felted cave reproduces the cover of a den, and dense wool traps their own body heat — cats thermoregulate at a higher comfort temperature than we do.
- Is felted wool safe for cats?
- Yes. Our wool is scoured without solvents and certified to OEKO-TEX Standard 100, so there are no PFAS, formaldehyde or azo dyes. Because it is felted rather than woven and stuffed, there is no plastic fibrefill to shed and no loose thread for claws.
- Will my cat scratch the wool bed apart?
- Felted wool is dense and has no woven threads to pull, so claws sink in and release without unravelling. Many cats knead it, which only felts it further and makes it firmer over time.
- How do I clean a wool cat bed?
- Shake it out, vacuum with a soft brush head, and air it outdoors. For marks, spot-clean with cool water and a wool-safe soap and dry flat. Never machine-wash hot — the cave will shrink and lose its shape.
- What size cat cave do I need?
- A cat should be able to curl fully with a little room to turn. Most adult cats fit one standard size; large breeds such as Maine Coons need the larger cave. The cat bed guide lists internal diameters.
